Stepping into a couture wedding dress design consultation can feel exciting and a little daunting. You may have a clear vision, or you may have absolutely no idea where to begin. Both are completely okay. At the studio, couture is not about pressure or perfection; it’s about collaboration, exploration, and creating something truly personal, at a pace that feels right for you.
To make the experience feel less overwhelming, here’s what you can expect from the first two couture appointments, where the foundation of your dress is thoughtfully and carefully created.

Your First Couture Wedding Dress Design Consultation: Exploring the Vision
Your initial appointment is all about conversation and exploration, not decisions. This is your opportunity to talk about your wedding, your style, and how you want to feel on the day. We’ll talk through the overall ambience of your wedding, from location and season to colour palette and mood.
You’re welcome to bring inspiration with you, whether that’s a Pinterest board, saved images, or even just words to describe what you’re drawn to. We’ll explore what you love, what you’re unsure about, and any definite dos and don’ts. This helps us understand not just what you like visually, but what feels right for you.

At this stage, we may also try on a small selection of sample pieces. This isn’t about finding “the dress,” but about gaining clarity. Trying on samples can help us better understand what silhouettes, proportions, or necklines you’re drawn to, and just as importantly, what you don’t want. It’s a useful way to visualise ideas and refine direction, without pressure or expectation.
We will also discuss budgets and guide prices openly and transparently, so you feel fully informed from the beginning. There is no obligation to proceed. This appointment is about gathering information and creating clarity, not committing to anything before you’re ready.
Following your first consultation, we use all the information gathered – notes, preferences, fabric guidance, and visual references – to begin the design stage. We create six to eight initial design concepts, each thoughtfully developed to reflect your vision and the feeling you want your wedding dress to convey.
These designs are shaped by everything we’ve learned about you, ensuring they feel intentional, considered, and personal from the very beginning.

Your Second Consultation: Discovering the Design
At your second appointment, the ideas start to take shape. You’ll be presented with a selection of wedding dress designs and fabric options, which we’ll go through together in detail. This is a collaborative process – we’ll discard anything that doesn’t resonate and spend time exploring the designs that excite you.
If the final design isn’t immediately obvious, that’s completely normal. We often take key elements from different designs – a neckline you love, a silhouette that feels right, a fabric that speaks to you – and bring them together to create something unique. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is forced.

Fabric choices are usually decided at this stage, but every bride is different. If you need more time or more options, we’ll find them. Couture is about working together, adjusting as we go, and ensuring you feel comfortable and confident at every step.
Once the design and fabrics are agreed upon, we will provide you with a quote, and a 25% deposit is required to secure your date. Following this, we arrange a measurement fitting, during which you will receive your bespoke design box – including your final design drawing and fabric samples. This gives you a tangible reference for your wedding dress as you plan other elements of your wedding, helping everything feel cohesive, considered, and perfectly tailored to you.

A couture wedding dress isn’t about instant decisions or immediate “bridal moments.” Often, those moments come later, when the design feels right, when the fabric is in your hands, or when you see your dress beginning to come to life. The beauty of couture is that it gives you the time and space to grow into the experience.
There is no pressure to know exactly what you want, and no obligation to move forward unless it feels right for you. This is your journey, and it should feel exciting, supportive, and entirely your own.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about our couture process, get in touch, we’d love to talk you through it.
